As the administrator of Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Insurance Program, Lockton Affinity provides insurance coverage that affiliates need to protect business operations, including building and rehabilitation projects, ReStores, volunteers, employees and more.

As an affiliate, you are required by HFHI to have certain coverage.

There are also other coverages available to affiliates through the Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Insurance Program. Below are the insurance policies that most affiliates purchase, which offer coverage to help protect against unique risks.

Optional Insurance Policies for Habitat for Humanity Affiliates

The optional policies available for affiliates include:

  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Commercial Auto
  • Flood coverage
  • Cyber
  • New York State Disability Benefits coverage
  • Earthquake coverage
  • Contractors Pollution or Environmental Liability
  • Special Events coverage
  • Excess Limits
  • Professional Liability
  • Mortgage Protection

Consider these scenarios in which affiliates may need or benefit from optional policies.

Your affiliate has more than a couple employees.
Workers’ Compensation is required in most states. This coverage exists to make sure that affiliate employees and their families have a remedy for workplace injuries and that the affiliate is not overly burdened with high costs in the event of an accident. If you have questions about your state’s requirements, contact our Habitat for Humanity team.

You are concerned about cyber attacks.
Cyber attacks pose a significant risk to businesses, costing companies millions and ruining reputations, and it’s not just large companies cyber criminals are after. Small businesses and organizations can have data considered valuable to a cyber criminal. The tactics used by hackers are always evolving so it’s important to make sure you are keeping up. Cyber Liability insurance helps cover the costs associated with common cyber attacks like ransomware and phishing.

Your affiliate is hosting a special fundraising event.
While most affiliate-sponsored events would be covered under the master General Liability policy, certain activities are not. These can include events involving animals, fireworks, carnivals and more.

Should your affiliate be planning a unique event, you may require a Special Events policy with a $2 million per occurrence limit, including coverage for participants per HFHI requirements. Additionally, the policy must name Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. as an Additional Insured.
