Is there a difference in being named a certificate holder versus being named as an additional insured?
We get this question frequently, so we wanted to break it down for you. If your affiliate is wanting a subcontractor or another party to name your affiliate as an Additional Insured, it is not enough to simply have your affiliates name and address listed in the Certificate Holder box on the Certificate. The Certificate must also state that your affiliate is listed as an Additional Insured. If that is not stated in the Description of Operations Box or a box checked showing you are an Additional Insured, you should tell the subcontractor that the Certificate does not meet your needs and you need the Additional Insured wording added to the Certificate.
